5:00 AM, along with the rotation of the conveyor belt, BIG slab starts their new life on the rolling belt and shapes the beauty of our home at last. Here is the BIG slab production base, it is also a microcosm of many production bases of New Zhong Yuan Ceramics.

According to the rough statistics of the industry, there are more than 10 production lines that can produce slabs above 900 *1800mm in China at present, and New Zhong Yuan Ceramics takes 2 of them. The products of New Zhong Yuan include four different sizes:1200*1200mm, 900*1800mm, 1000*2000mm and 1200*2400mm.

The production of BIG + Slabs is mainly divided into three parts including 15 links: raw material preparation, adobe shaping, and production line technology.

The selection, mixing ratio ,and processing technology of the raw materials are directly related to the expansion coefficient and sintering of the adobe, thereby affecting the density and weight of the ceramic tile body.

1.Raw Materials

Whether it is warm sand, kaolin, black talc, Heyuan ball soil, cooked coke, or low-temperature white sand, Guangdong mud, high-strength soil,and so on, here is the first station of how raw materials become a  piece of premium tile.

2.Inspection of raw materials

New Zhong Yuan Ceramics carries out strict quality control standards on the original and auxiliary materials of ceramic tiles. Only raw materials that pass the standard test can enter the next step.

3.Ingredients Match

The qualified raw materials would be sent to the ball mill in proportion through the conveyor belt.Ball-milling is the core step of raw material processing. The ball-milled particles determine the shape of the adobe, the fineness and averageness of the particles determine the quality of the tile.

4.Ball-milling

After 13-15 hours of ball milling, the fineness of the mud can reach 0.7-0.9.The unqualified coarse particle from water-mixed ingredients will be separated and re-milled after deferrization and sieving.

5.Slurry Storage

After deferrization and sieving, the slurry will be stored in the pool, ready to be used afterward.

6.Powder Making In Spray Tower

The evenly mixed slurry enters the spray drying tower through an automatic transfer system. After drying by hot air, the size of the particle is between 0.5-2mm, and the moisture percentage is only 7%. The powder after spray drying will be sent to the powder storage.

7.Adobe Shaping

The powder is conveyed by the belt into the press machine. New Zhong Yuan Ceramics introduces the large-tonnage and high-tech press machine—Heng Li Tai 16800-ton press, which can suppress slabs of various sizes from 900X900mm to 1200X2400mm. The porcelain slabs produced in this way have surpassed traditional tiles not only in property but also in color and texture.

8.Adobe Drying

The formed adobe after pressing needs to be dried again in the drying kiln to make sure the moisture is less than 0.5%, and then it can come to the next step – glazing.

9.Glazing

The glazing will not be started until the moisture of the brick is below 0.5%. Under the function of buffering coming from the glaze slot and sieve, glaze slurry in the high-position tank will evenly cover the brick surface through a smooth jar.

10.3D Ink-jet Printing

As the bricks are conveyed into the printing machine, the preset patterns in the computer will be directly printed on the surface. Mastering the core technology of ink-jet printing, equipped with an 8 tunnels ink-jet machine,BIG+ slabs restore the natural marble texture and achieve realistic visual effects.

11.Firing In The Kiln

The highest firing temperature can reach 1200℃ in the 350 meters long roller kiln. According to the change of the temperature, the kiln is divided into preheating zone, firing zone , and cooling zone. It takes only 70 minutes to finish the firing process. The time and temperature are strictly controlled by the computer.

12.Freezing

It’s necessary for those slabs in high temperatures to be frozen before they are conveyed to the polishing workshop through automatic transporting lines.

The low-cost and stable conveyor lines successfully realize automatic transportation and storage by up-and-down tile machine, intelligent ferry transportation, and rail storage system.

13.Polishing

The edging comes after firing and freezing. Then, the tiles will be sent into rough-polishing and medium-polishing machines for the next step.

In order to improve the anti-fouling property, a nano-scale anti-fouling agent will be evenly coated on the surface of the tiles. Due to the nano protective layer, BIG+ slabs are more anti-fouling and wear-resisting than others.

14.Inspection And Grading

Both machinery and manual inspection are needed for each slab. The staff on the assembly lines carefully test the quality indicators such as color difference, flatness, and geometric size when they inspect and classify the products.

15.Packaging And Storage

The qualified products will be transported into storage after a series of automatic packaging steps, including filming, loading and folding, tape packing, and palletizing.
